What if you could really get into the heads of people around you at the hospital? How would that change how you interact with them? The CEO of Cleveland Clinic, Dr. James Merlino, MD, commissioned the following video exploring the topic of empathy and the human connection set in a hospital. The video speaks for itself. All I can say is that I’m very thankful for reminders to recognize the individualized situations people face within our community. A doctor may become jaded when he sees disease day in and day out, but for a patient in this moment, his sickness consumes his world.
Thank you to my classmate Bowen Jiang for sharing.

Sometimes in the thick of things we as docs forget that the insight we gain into people’s lives is incredibly rare. Thanks for commenting and reblogging, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
