Recently I was lucky to receive a special delivery from Asia via one of my best friends – see above for the goodies. Today I want to share with you some of my favorite products from my first skincare haul from Korea, the land of crazy products like horse oil, and donkey milk (I’m not quite adventurous enough to try those yet!).
Skin Food Black Sugar Mask
[amazon asin=B004FKPWWC&text=Skin Food Black Sugar Mask] is packed with minerals and vitamins exfoliates and revitalizes skin, leaving your face feeling super polished and smooth. Use after washing your face and leave your face a little wet for easier spreading of the sugar mask. This stuff is THICK and sticky so make sure to put your hair back before doing your treatment. Rub the granules into your face for exfoliation and then leave on for 10-15 minutes. The smell is citrusy goodness – yum! After you are done, wash the mask off with warm water and pat dry. Don’t forget to use moisturizer afterwards so the newly exposed skin can stay hydrated. The cheapest listing for this product I’ve found is $9.00 on [amazon asin=B004FKPWWC&text=Amazon] (compared to >$15 at the Skin Food store!).
Verdict: Inexpensive and leaves your skin very polished! Easily my favorite product out of the entire bunch. MUST try!
Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX:
This is an ultra hydrating lightweight gel with beta glucan and Ceramide designed for you to leave on overnight as a mask. According to the Laneige website, this product includes “Sleepscent,” a special patented aromatic compound that includes tones of orange Flower, rose, Ylang Ylang, and sandal wood. Man, this stuff smells GOOD! What blew me away was how a small dollop actually covered a lot of surface area on my face, and I woke up with skin that felt very soft. This isn’t as thick as my usual Shiseido night cream but sometimes it’s nice to mix things up a little. I will definitely keep using this product around 1-2x per week.
Verdict: Worth trying if you’re looking for a cheaper option to effectively boost your nightly moisturizing routine.
Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask
I’ll be honest, I’m a beginner when it comes to face masks, so I don’t have much experience in this department. But I love how paper thin and light these Innisfree It’s Real squeeze masks are, and there’s excess serum in the packet to rub into your face and neck. The smell is amazing; I tried aloe, green tea and lime and I LOVED the green tea. The whole experience is soothing and relaxing, something I look forward to after a busy call day at the hospital! I’ll put in a plug here too about using these 15 minutes to try to relax and just clear your mind for a bit. I never take the time to do this so it’s kind of an indulgence. You can buy 16 sheets for ~$17 on Amazon.
Verdict: Get a relaxing mini-spa experience at home at an unbeatable price. Worth checking out if you’re a face mask kind of gal.
Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist
The [amazon text=innisfree green tea mineral mist&asin=B007VSONBG] is a life saver if you’re traveling and can’t do your normal hydration routine. I took this baby with me on my honeymoon and it was AWESOME on all the flights. A few spritzes of the green tea mist leaves your skin moisturized and you feeling more refreshed. The cheapest listing I’ve found for this is on a trusted store on ebay for $6.22.
Verdict: A quick boost of hydration on the go, perfect for frequent flyers!
These are my favorite products out of the group and will probably get around to reviewing some of the other ones in the future too. Have you tried any of these? Any other recs for must try Korean skincare products? Would love to know!
