Valentine’s Day is coming up and like I shared last year, this holiday is a special tradition for my mom and me. I went to an all girls’ school for high school so as you can imagine options for a romantic Valentine were limited. My mom wanted to teach me even back then that I didn’t need a guy to make me feel special on this made up holiday. So she started getting me a small gift every year, whether it was a scarf I’ve been wanting or making me a photo collage.Just a few days ago I received a Valentine’s Day delivery in the mail from her; I’m still waiting for the actual holiday to open it! My dad isn’t the best at remembering Valentine’s Day (his defense: “Everyday is Valentine’s Day! Look at all the flowers I grow in the yard!” uh-huh.) so I always get my mom something special too. This year I got her the “Cup of Happy” “Cup of Love” matching mugs that I tagged below, along with a bouquet of flowers.
So whether you’re celebrating with a significant other, your friends, or even your mom, here are some of my gift ideas for that special someone.
Valentine’s Day Gift Guide 2017
Some highlights:
- Jo Malone wood sage & sea salt cologne: Yesterday M and I went to Brookfield Place, the new fancy shopping mall in Battery Park City and visited the Jo Malone store since hubs is in need of a new cologne. So many great options! We both loved the wood sage and sea salt, which we were told is unisex. I ordered it for him for V-day but I’m already excited to use it myself time to time!
- Longchamp Large Le Pliage tote: I have this in black and it’s such a great work bag: sturdy, large enough to hold all my clinic stuff and white coat, and the best part is I’m not afraid to get it dirty since it’s machine washable. Let’s be honest, the hospital is not the cleanest environment so it’s great to be able to clean these bags easily.
- ‘Happy/Love” ceramic mug set: Bought this for my mom and I can already imagine her and my dad using these for their afternoon tea!
- Sugarfina gourmet gummies: these are definitely a splurge for what they are, not going to lie. Fun treat, beautifully packaged, and oh so indulgent with fun flavors like champs and rose.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love this! I went to an all girls high school too, so I did the same thing with my mom. She just dropped off some bright pink tulips while I study, and I bought her an appointment for custom made lipstick at the Bite Beauty Lab!
Happy Valentines 🙂
