It has been a while since I posted a gift guide, but to get us into the holiday spirit, I’ve put together a little list of all the gifts that you can get for the healthcare professional in your life! Hope this holiday gift guide is useful for some of you!
Plush organs: So…cute! And quirky! These are adorable little stuffed organs that come with these punny sayings. “Flexy and I know it,” (muscle) “Having a ball” (testicle), “Rock your antibody” (lymph node). I definitely want one to represent my specialty.
Medelita White Coat: I’ve written before about how hard it is to be taken seriously sometimes when you look young and are petite (see amazing posts about this campaign here). One thing that has helped is having a well fitted white coat. I wear the Medelita Estie in 00 and the M3 Ellody lab coat in 00 Petite. They look like they were tailored to fit on me. If you’re looking for a well fitted and professional white coat, I highly recommend a Medelita white coat!
Personalized Doctor Mug: This remains one of my favorite gifts of all time, and it’s on sale right now for $26! My bestie from college gifted me this after she saw how stressed I was during my general surgery rotation in medical school. It now sits on my desk at work so I have a mug for all the tea I drink on a daily basis!
Comfortable shoes: Medical professionals are basically on their feet all day, and I’ve found that a comfortable and stylish pair of shoes goes A LONG WAY. I purchased a pair of Earthies flats years ago, and since then they gifted me two pairs of their sneakers. My favorite one so far is the Earth Serval sneaker (linked in metallic champagne on sale here and red, navy, black, and taupe here). They are so comfortable, light, and breathable, with a thick foam cushioned footbed and reinforced arch support. They also have a 2 inch heel on the inside of the shoe – shorties (like me) rejoice! I wear my pair in taupe everyday under scrubs and I never have to worry about foot pain.
Longchamp large Le Pliage tote: I use my Longchamp large le pliage tote every. single. day. I got mine years ago in Paris, so it is a black tote with a yellow Eiffel tower icon on it. I love how roomy and spacious it is, and it can house all my equipment, lunch, plus a sweater. I’m not afraid to get it dirty, because it’s machine washable, a key feature for busy women in the hospital who can’t always set their bags down in a sterile place!
Journals and notebooks: Call me old fashioned, but I still like jotting down notes from time to time using a pen and paper. I find it distracting to type notes on my phone when I’m in with patients. I also just love the journals and notebooks available from Anthropologie this season. These are slim enough to put in your white coat or purse, so you can keep them handy.
Portable battery pack: I’m all for useful gifts, and my phone is always running out of battery in the hospital. This slim rose gold battery pack from Nordstrom is a stylish and sleek way to make sure your Android or iPhone is well charged at all times.
Cute compression socks: We are on our feet ALL DAY, and being in dermatology, I’ve treated my fair share of spider veins. In order to prevent leg swelling and development of these unsightly veins, why not try a pair of cute compression stockings?
